  • Grok Bot Can Now Phone a Business for You and Report Back

Elon Musk says Grok Bot can now pick up the phone for you. In a post on X on Sunday, October 25, at 7:35 AM Pacific, Musk wrote that the Bot can call a person or a business on your behalf, make a request, take notes on the response, and then send you a summary of the conversation.

His description covers the whole loop, from dialing to reporting back. Instead of sitting on hold yourself, you hand the call to the Bot and read the outcome later. It is the clearest statement yet of where SpaceXSI, the company behind Grok Bot, wants the agent to go: out of the chat window and into everyday errands that still run on phone calls.

Calling is not entirely new territory for the Bot, but the direction is. SpaceXSI added voice calls in September, and on October 19 Grok Bot landed on the iPhone Action Button for one-press conversations. Those features let you talk to the Bot. What Musk described on Sunday points the Bot outward, so it speaks to other people for you.

Musk's post quoted notes by the account @alexmichaelio on Grok Bot 0.77, which describe a Bot that can dial someone, sit on hold, press keys and get transferred while you watch a live transcript. Those build details are that account's description, and no xAI or SpaceX changelog confirming them has been published, so they are best read as an early user's account of the release rather than an official specification.

Plenty of practical questions are still open. Musk did not say which subscription plans include calling, which countries it works in, or what number shows up on the other end. It is also unclear whether the feature has reached every Grok Bot user yet, and the official @bot account had not posted rollout details as of Sunday morning, so some people may not see it right away.

The move fits the business pitch Musk has been making for the agent. On October 16 he said SpaceXSI is building a specialized Hagglebot for business use that he believes could improve enterprise cost-efficiency by 5 percent or more. A Bot that can phone a supplier or a service desk and come back with notes is a natural building block for that kind of work. The audience is growing, too: SpaceX president Gwynne Shotwell said on the company's third-quarter call on October 20 that Grok Bot had 800,000 paid weekly users earlier in October.

For X users, the appeal is simple. The same agent that already answers when tagged in a thread and, since last week, can read and reply to X Chat direct messages is now being asked to handle the one channel that has resisted automation the longest: an ordinary phone call, with a person on the other end and a written summary waiting when it is done.
