  • X Premium Tiers Explained: What Basic, Premium and Premium+ Actually Give You

Paying for X is no longer a single decision. The service still offers three Premium tiers — Basic, Premium and Premium+ — and each one unlocks a different layer of the platform. Here is what each level actually includes, based on X's own subscription documentation.

Basic is the entry tier, priced at 3 dollars a month on the web in the US. It covers the everyday conveniences: editing posts after you publish them, longer posts, undo post, longer video uploads, background playback, video downloads, Reader view and Top Articles. You also get customization options such as bookmark folders, app icons and a Highlights tab, plus a small boost for your replies. What Basic does not include is important: there is no checkmark, no reduction in ads, and no access to the creator monetization programs.

Premium, at 8 dollars a month on the web, is the tier most paying users choose. It adds the blue checkmark with ID verification options, roughly half the ads in the main feeds, and a larger reply boost. This is also where the creator toolkit starts: eligibility for revenue sharing and Creator Subscriptions, plus X Pro, Media Studio and Analytics on the web. Premium subscribers can publish long-form Articles — a feature X extended to all Premium users rather than keeping it exclusive to the top tier.

Premium+ is the top level, built around an ad-free experience in the For You and Following feeds and the largest reply boost the platform offers. It bundles everything in Premium, with the strongest algorithmic amplification for your posts and replies and early access to new and experimental features as X rolls them out. Pricing for Premium+ varies more by region and platform than the lower tiers, so check your own subscription page for the current figure before signing up.

One practical warning applies to every tier: subscribing through the iOS or Android app usually costs more than subscribing on the web, because app-store fees are added on top. Prices also differ by country.

There is a new wrinkle as of this week. The X Subscription, announced on October 12, bundles X Premium benefits together with Grok and Cursor in single plans starting at 8 dollars a month. Existing Premium subscribers can keep their current plan or switch with a prorated refund, so the three tiers described here remain available while the bundled plans roll out. If all you want is the checkmark and creator tools, standalone Premium still does the job; the bundle makes more sense if you also use the AI products.
